As an introductory course, the assignments are designed at an entry level. You will learn the basics of photography and digital image editing. As an introductory course, this course assumes that you do not have any prior experience with photography. If you have taken previous photography classes before, you may find that some of the lessons will be familiar. Because this is an online class, it is expected that you are familiar with how to browse and access internet websites. You should also be familiar with how to use and create documents on Google Drive. If you have any questions regarding how to use these technologies, contact your teacher asap : )
This course requires the use of a digital camera. Many of the assignments will require you to utilize a camera to create digital imagery for submission. The assignments are designed to be completed without the use of an expensive camera. You should be able to complete these assignments with a basic point and shoot camera, or a decent cell phone camera. However, I recommend that you invest in an entry level D-SLR camera if you plan to continue to take photography at a more advanced level. You will also find the flexibility and image quality of a D-SLR camera to be helpful in your work. If you can afford it, or have access to a D-SLR camera, I recommend using one for this course.
